Ethan Wildes

Ethan Wildes is a junior studying in Political Science and Legal Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ethan’s research and interests revolve around the unique relationship between state and religion. Specifically, how religious belief shifts the paradigm of power in regions, its effects on foreign policy, and how conflicting religious beliefs create tension in international relations. His studies involve analyzing political leaders and how they navigate the political realm while abiding by religious principles, observing the use of religious demagoguery tactics, and monitoring shifts of power between large spiritual figures. His scope is primarily but not limited to the Middle East region. 

Outside of the club, Ethan has interned for the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s office, assisting attorneys with reviewing evidence, meeting with clients, serving subpoenas, and preparing for trial. He also has job shadowed for a private law firm, working closely with attorneys through rigorous trial procedure. After completing his undergraduate degree, he plans to attend law school. 

Ethan has lived in three different locations between Wisconsin and Alabama, being raised primarily in Tomah, Wisconsin. In his free time, he enjoys working out, playing hockey, reading, chess, creative writing, and cooking. He also is a part of the UW jiu-jitsu club and likes mixed-martial arts.
