Jason Malina is a junior in History, International Studies, and Latin American, Caribbean, and Iberian Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Additionally, he is pursuing certificates in Political Science and European Studies. His research largely focuses on the Hispanosphere, occasionally extending to the entirety of the Western Hemisphere and Iberia. Predominantly a historian, his focus is on the 1930s Spanish Civil War, where he does work on American involvement in and recruitment for the conflict.
Outside of CIRA, Jason is most notably heavily involved in the university's Model United Nations organization as a traveling delegate and the Wisconsin High School Model United Nations Conference as the Undersecretary-General of Regional Bodies. He also participates as a member of the Phi Alpha Theta history honors society and the Wisconsin International Studies Major Association. He has also worked as a student employee as part of the school's Memorial Library Interlibrary Loan team.
A lifelong resident of the Chicago suburb of Northbrook, he has spent the majority of his time north of the city. In his free time, Jason reads various nonfiction historical and political works, enjoys watching different science fiction shows, and spends much of his time cooking and trying new foods and recipes.
